How it Works - Contractors

In order to collaborate with donkeybid.com, contractors must submit an application, provide proof of insurance and licensing as required by state law, and must submit a solid list of previous customer references. This process enables homeowners to maintain peace-of-mind, knowing that their projects will be completed by a true professional with a reputation for quality.

Once contractors have passed the screening process, their individual online accounts are activated, and all leads associated with their specific lines of work will become visible. As each lead becomes available, the contractors must choose to accept or pass the lead, based upon the customer's description, urgency, and project budget. Once four contractors have accepted the lead, it will disappear from the list of available leads, and no more contractors will have the opportunity to bid on the job. If the customer goes through with the project, this bid limitation gives each contractor a 1 in 4 chance of placing the winning bid. Keep in mind that all project leads are filtered and verbally confirmed to ensure that only serious inquiries are presented.

Upon acceptance of a lead, contractors are charged a comparatively small fee based on the pricing structure chosen at the time of their enrollment. The lead fees will be added together and billed to a designated credit card in weekly increments. Once a lead has been accepted, all business dealings are conducted directly between the homeowner or commercial customer and the contractor. This includes all project price agreements, contracts, scheduling, or any legal requirements related to the job.

Although donkeybid.com encourages direct communication between homeowners and contractors, we understand that we may have to act as a mediator in some situations, e.g. a contractor is unable to get in touch with a homeowner. Because each event may be unique, these occurrences will be handled on an individual basis. In the event of a broken line of communication between the two parties, compensation to the contractor will be provided accordingly, once all attempts to contact the homeowner have failed.
